Essential Oil Tips: DigestZen

If you are a regular reader of my blog, you know pretty much know that every Saturday I post my weekly menu and every Tuesday I post a recipe (sometimes, rarely though, I may post an extra recipe later in the week, too).  I found that consistency is key and I do much better with my blog if I keep this schedule.  I've decided to add to it with tips on essential oils every Thursday.  I know that many of you may not use essential oils, I didn't until about a year ago.  But once I started using the DoTerra oils, my life and how I take care of my family's health changed.  We are healthier and go to the doctor far, far less then we did before.  I trust myself  more in taking care of my family now. Essential oils have really empowered me to be able to be the caretaker I need to be for my family. I know there are other great brands of essential oils out there, I'm not here to debate which brand is best, what you use is up to you.  I use DoTerra with my family, so that is what I'll be highlighting each week.

Anyway, every Thursday I'm going to spotlight an oil, give you the background on it, historical uses, how you can use it, etc.  Today I'm going to talk about doTerra's blend DigestZen.
DigestZen is the reason I started using oils.  I went in for reflexology session and my reflexologist noticed that I was having some digestive issues (story of my life), she put the DigestZen on my feet and it worked almost immediately. She also gave me a sample to take home, to use as needed.  Not only did it help with my issues, it also helped relieve my little one's constipation...immediately.

This is our go to oil when we have an digestive distress: stomach aches, constipation, diarrhea, accidental gluten exposure, the stomach flu, etc.

The blend contains a mixture of anise, caraway, coriander, fennel, ginger, peppermint, and tarragon. My boys like to call it the 'black licorice' oil (from the anise and fennel).

We apply the oil directly on our bellies (or where the pain is), and also on the reflex points on bottoms of our feet.

DigestZen can also be taken internally.  Do this by adding 1-2 drops into 1/4 cup of water, and drinking, or by placing a few drops in a capsule.

For Gallbladder issues (which I have at least once a month...it's getting better, though), mix 2-3 drops of the DigestZen with 1 drop of Lemon oil in 1 tablespoon of olive oil and take it internally every hour for up to 8 hours.  I also apply the DigestZen topically over the gallbladder/liver area, along with the lemon oil, and drink lots of water.

My older son caught a stomach virus right after Christmas, I put the DigestZen on his belly about every 30 minutes or so (it was really how ever often we thought about it), along with DoTerra's OnGuard blend, Oregano, and Frankinense on his feet about 3-5 times a day (to kill the virus).  He only threw up 3 times, and was back to normal within a day.

  1. I love that your are starting this new series on Essential Oils! I just ordered some essential oils for the first time last week (at the recommendation of my son's doctor) and I have a feeling they will change our lives too!
